Well, ATS can be and is usually programmed to scan CVs for specific keywords that match a given job advert/profession/industry to see which applicants match the job requirements.

That is why it is important that your CV is both readable by ATS software and that it has the information that the software is programmed to search for. We use this exact same software to scan the CVs that we write and to ensure that they are ATS compliant. We will write your CV both for the bots and the humans. 

When a job is advertised, it usually has specific requirements including qualifications, skills, experience, languages, etc. These become the keywords for that job. Every profession/industry/sector has its own keywords. Recruiters and software do not carefully read CVs line by line or word for word but rather skim/scan them for keywords and that is why is it important to have a keyword optimized CV. 

CVs, Cover Letters and Bios will be in editable Ms. Word format and a protected Adobe PDF format. You are highly encouraged to submit documents for job applications in PDF format to guard against accidental editing, distorted formatting, etc. If you end up editing your final documents, save them as PDF documents before you apply. In Ms. Word, click save as or save a copy, select PDF from the dropdown list (the default is Word Doc) and then click save. You will have both the new PDF document and the initial Ms. Word document. 

Digital documents (LinkedIn and Portfolio) will be in the appropriate digital formats.
